Amy was educated and trained at Charles Sturt University in 2013. Upon completing her studies, Amy graduated with a distinction in Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy. Amy then relocated back to Queensland and commenced working on the Sunshine Coast.
Amy arrived in Moranbah in May 2020 and enjoys the small community feel. Amy has a 1-year-old daughter named Pippa and has found that Moranbah has offered a wonderful base for her family to meet other young mothers and form new friendships.
Working as an Oral Health Therapist, Amy most enjoys seeing children. Caring for families and creating an enjoyable and fun atmosphere is her main focus.
Throughout the 5 years of working as an Oral Health Therapist, Amy’s career highlight has been changing dental behaviours and seeing nervous, scared children become confident, happy patients who are excited to attend dental visits. In addition, working with oncology patients and volunteering her time at Bloomhill Cancer Rehabilitation centre was also a wonderful highlight thus far in her career.
Furthermore, many areas of oral health interest Amy, in particular, nutrition and prevention are a focus for her. Understanding what is in your food and how it impacts your oral health is of particular interest to Amy. In addition, pregnancy and early childhood oral health is another focus area.
Amy believes that she plays a small but significant role in making oral health important to patients. This is via education and awareness, getting to know her patients, understanding their needs and implementing an oral hygiene routine that suits their lifestyle. Amy looks forward to meeting you and your family and achieving optimal dental and general health.
